What the feed records

The comments, likes, follows, votes and timestamped actions of a participant on a feed. You can use them as variables in later segments, and they are in the export.

  1. Seven variables per feed

Each social segment has seven variables. Carrier makes them with the segment and locks them to it:

    • comments: the comments of the participant.
    • agentReplies.
    • likes.
    • follows.
    • votes.
    • commentCount.
    • actionLog: a timestamped list of all actions of the participant. It includes each like, and when the "new posts" pill showed and was tapped.

The names have the form social_<segment>_<what>. All later segments can use them as usual variables. In this clip, the debrief shows the comment count.

The seven variables of the feed in the Variables manager, and the comment count in the debrief.
  2. Read it back and export it

The feed saves the record of the participant during the segment. So the next segment can use it immediately.

In the data export, the record of each participant is in Segment Submissions for the feed segment. This applies to JSON or CSV, and to chatrooms or all. The lists are JSON text. commentCount is a number.

The export does not include studies in testing mode, unless you include test data.

Two likes and a comment, then a debrief that shows one comment.
