Posts that arrive over time

Schedule posts to appear during the session behind a "new posts" pill. Delay agent replies so that they look like replies from people, not from bots.

  1. Schedule a post

Select the post. Set Appears to After entry. Then set the offset. In this clip, the offset is 20 seconds. The timeline shows the post under +20s, arrives later.

Before entry makes a post look older than the session. The readiness check shows a warning for a post scheduled after the segment ends, because no participant would see it.

Seed comments have their own time. The showAt column of a spreadsheet sets the time of posts and of comments.

The consultation post is scheduled for 20 seconds after the start.
  2. Hold replies back

On an agent account, Reply delay has a minimum and a maximum in milliseconds. After the agent writes a reply, the reply waits a random time between the two values.

Save the feed. Then push Deploy.

The replies of civic.desk wait 4–6 seconds.
  3. What the participant sees

A new post does not move the feed. It waits behind a "1 new post" pill until the participant taps the pill, as in a real app.

The feed records when the pill appeared and when the participant tapped it.

The reply to a comment waits for the delay of the account. Then it appears below the comment.

The pill appears, the new post opens, and the reply appears some seconds after the comment.
