Find your way around the builder
Start a new experiment from the dashboard, learn the function of each area of the builder, and save the experiment with Deploy.

Start a new experiment
On the dashboard, select New Experiment. The builder opens on a study that has one chamberline with one chamber. The chamber has one Chat segment and no participants. Change this skeleton to make your study.
The line under the name of the study shows Not deployed. This means that Carrier has not saved the study.

The four areas
The builder has four areas:
- The library on the left has the parts. Drag Entities into the cast of a chamber. Entities are the human participant and the agents that you make. Drag Segments into the timeline of a chamber.
- The canvas in the middle shows the chamberlines and their chambers. Click a chamber to open it.
- The panel on the right shows the settings of the item that you clicked last. This item can be a chamber, a segment or a participant. Click the name of the study at the top to see the settings of the full experiment.
- The top bar has Variables, Validate, Preview and Deploy. Validate checks the design and counts the problems.
The library, the canvas, the settings panel and the top bar. -
Deploy saves
Deploy saves the design. Before you deploy, your changes are only in this browser tab, and the line under the name shows Unsaved changes. You can save a design that has problems, but Carrier shows a warning first. Here the chamber has no participants.
After the first Deploy:
- The study is on your dashboard.
- The line under the name shows All changes deployed.
- Copy link appears in the top bar.
Deploy does not let participants into the study. To let them in, activate the study (see Your first study in ten minutes).
Deploy shows a warning about the empty chamber, saves the design, and Copy link appears.
